July 16th Letter

Dear Storm Families,

As we prepare to go through the dog days of summer, I want to remind everyone that foundation for Championships is laid during the summer months. I hope that all players that will wear Storm across their jersey this upcoming season will have a work ethic worthy of that honor. As a coach I could not be more excited about what is in store for the upcoming year.

We are still working on finishing the practice schedule. We are trying to make sure we have all of our coaches in place before we release the schedule. Currently we have not firmed up coaches for 10U girls, 10U boys and 12U girls. If you have an interest in that area please contact me.

I have three important items that I need to communicate to you:

1) I announced at the meeting we had in June that the boys JV and the boys 12U (gold team) would practice at the Performance Fitness Center with the JV girls and Varsity boys and girls, due to some scheduling conflicts this is no longer the case. JV boys and 12U boys will practice at the Lighthouse.

2) Meeting – We are going to have another summer meeting. How important is this meeting? Well during the first 10 years of the Storm program we had one summer meeting and I am calling a second meeting this summer. Hmmm, it must be something really big or I would not have a second meeting. The date is July 24th at 7:00 PM; we will post the location on the blog as soon as we secure it. The blog is www.okcstorm.blogspot.com you should be signed up for updates from the blog on a regular basis, go to and sign up.

3) Fundraising – This year we have changed the fundraising policy. The way it works is the fees are the same as last year but you are no longer required to sell any ad space, however, every $1 in ad space you sell you get .50 deducted from your team fee. Once your team fee is paid you will receive .50 per dollar toward your basketball expenses. The balance of the funds will go to pay for the program and new uniforms. There is no reason for basketball to be financial burden for anyone this year, just encourage the kids to get out and earn it. VERY IMPORTANT – we will have a strict deadline this year of October 30th, so now is the time to get out and get started.

Thanks,

Tim Flatt
