Okc Storm News

This week we have been working on revamping the Storm website. We will be working on fixing up the site over the next few months. One thing we could really use is pictures from last season so we can get them on the site. Ken Gise just committed to coaching the 12 & under girls team this year.

Online Player Registration now available! Just go to www.stormhoops.com and click on the Sign up page on the top far right. Please take the time to fill this out because it is looking like we are going to have a record turn out in several different age groups and while this is exciting this could also leave us in a last second scramble looking for a second team coach.

Storm Updates

Communication is key to having everyone on the same page, happy moms and a successful season. We need your help. Please read the article below.

Just a few more weeks and we will be in hot gyms listening to squeaking noises from sneakers making sharp cuts on the gym floor, we will enjoy the aroma from a great combination of fresh sweating bodies and shirts that have been worn day after day and stuffed into gym bags for the next practice. Now my heart is racing, I can't wait.

Communication
This morning I had the opportunity to meet with Coach Roth and the boys JR High team at Mitch Park in Edmond at 9:00 AM. There were a number of parents there that were present who are not receiving my e-mail updates. Communication is very important as this looks to be a very busy year. I thought it would be good if we can all work together to open the communication lines up. The problem in communicating is that so much of the e-mail ends up in spam filters or junk mail Let me first outline how we will attempt to communicate and how you can make sure you get the latest info:1) OKC Storm Blog -- the web address is http://www.okcstorm.blogspot.com you can check it on a regular basis or you can sign up for the e-mail update (make sure you confirm the sign up e-mail that you will receive) or an RSS feed (if you understand that if not, it would be a great project to learn it is the fastest and best communication on the web).2) The Nationals Blog - the web address is http://www.basketballnationals.blogspot.com I would recommend the same sign up procedure.3) The Storm e-mail list - The last mailing of 120 was only open and read by 63 people, which means a lot is being lost in spam and junk mail, so I would recommend that if you aren't receiving an e-mail a week that you set up a separate free e-mail at either yahoo, google or hotmail and then forward the e-mail to your main e-mail. Then send me your new e-mail tim@flattmail.com

You should be getting an e-mail each week between Nationals and Storm right now. One other good idea is if you have multiple e-mail addresses in your family have everyone sign up.
If you could forward this e-mail to other Storm families who are not getting updates and new families that would really help.
Eagle Forum
After my meeting in the park I was a guest on Eagle Forum Radio Show. It was really great during the hour show we have calls from 8 states (NE, OK, MO, CA, WA, NJ, FL and IL -I think I got them all). What was great was there was a homeshcool mom from OKC that called in that wants here 3 children to join the Storm and a team from NJ called in that wants to come to Nationals for the first time. The show should be in podcast form and/archived if you would like to hear it. The site is http://eagleforum.org
Storm Hotel Coordinator
Alison
Goodwin that will be the Storm Hotel Coordinator not Allison Harper. Allison's email address is alihgood@gmail.com

Varsity will start "conditioning workouts" Sept 15th at the Lighthouse. That sounds little scary "conditioning workouts" but it really isn't that big of a deal. The players that work hard in the summer can usually finish the practice without bending over a garbage can.
